The Rapt Pill Captive Portal can only be accessed when the RAPT Pill is plugged in to USB-C or (Wireless Charging ONLY) charging on the Wireless Charging base. Note. The battery needs to have sufficient charge to broadcast the Captive Portal when wireless charging is usedYou can access the Captive Portal in two ways. You can connect directly to the Pill’s WiFi using a phone, tablet or computer. Simply connect to the Pill’s WiFi network (the network name will be in the form RAPT Pill XXXX where the last 4 digits correspond to the last digits of the Pill’s MAC address).
Alternatively, once the Pill has been connected to your WiFi network, you can access the Captive Portal by entering the Pill’s IP address on a browser. The IP address can be found in the Diagnostics screen of the Captive Portal.
Note: The Pill Captive Portal will close automatically after 10 minutes when the Pill is plugged in to USB-C. If the Pill is disconnected from USB-C within 10 minutes the Pill Captive Portal will close.
This is by design to maximise battery life.
To keep the Captive Portal open for up to 10 minutes while disconnected from USB-C (for example, in order to perform calibration of the Pill) you must first open the Diagnostics or the Calibration screen of the Pill Captive Portal.
There are five options available in the Captive Portal.
CONNECTED TO: This displays the WiFI Network the RAPT Pill is currently connected to
MANUAL CONNECT: This allows you to input a (hidden) SSID (if your network is hidden or private, for example)
OR CHOOSE A NETWORK: You can select any visible WiFi network top connect the RAPT Pill to
The Registraion screen will display the Pill's MAC Address and Validation Code (if the Pill is connected to WIFI but not registered) or REGISTRATION DONE (as above) if the Pill is sucessfully registered to the RAPT Portal.
Telemetry method - select either WiFI or Bluetooth
Telemetry interval - set the desired inteval for telemetry
Gravity velocity measurement time - select the period over which gravity velocity (rate of change of gravity) is measured. We recommend 1 day for meaningful results
Temperature offset - set the offset (up to +/- 10°C) if the on board thermeometer needs calibrating*
*The RAPT Pill temperature reading will usually be high during Captive Portal access, charging or calibration. This is because the Li-ion battery can generate quite a bit of heat in sustained use.
SENSOR VALUES
Accelerometer X/Y/Z: current accelerometer reading
Tilt Angle: current tilt angle
Specific Gravity: current gravity reading
ADC2: current ADC2 (analogue to digital) reading
Battery: current battery charge level*
Temperature: current temperature**
Firmware: current firmware version
MAC address: Pill MAC address (required for Registration)
IP (STA): IP address (static)***
IP (AP): IP address (access point)
Telemetry sent XX/YY: telemetry sent(XX) / telemetry recevied (YY)
*not displayed until battery is calibrated ** typically not accurate when Pill Captive Portal is open, as the battery generates heat when charging *** Will display 0.0.0.0 if the Pill is not connected to WiFI
GRAVITY VELOCITY
Valid: true or false
Gravity velocity: current gravity velocity
Age of latest: last gravity velocity reading telemetry reading
Dataset size: number of data points
Oldest item: oldest reading
ACTIONS
Send telemetry now - manually send telemtry to the RAPT Portal
Check for new firmware - check for firmware updates
Send diagnostics log - send diagnostic data (only at the request of help desk)
Reboot device - reboots RAPT Pill (useful if you ahave WIFI connectivity issues)
Factory reset - restores Pill to default factory settings. Warning - clears WiFI and Registration settings
Get gravity data - downloads .csv of gravity data
In this screen you can perform Standard, Advanced or Custom calibration. You can also Clear an existing calibration.
