KL49344 RAPT Laser Level Sensor | Assembly
The RAPT Laser Level Sensor - Cornelius Keg Lid Kit is pre-assembled
Before use inside a suitable Cornelius keg (such as a KegLand 19L or 9.5L Ball Lock Keg) please clean the underneath of the pre-assembled lid and housing, and ensure the keg lid and keg are both clean and sanitised before use.
The RAPT Laser Level Sensor - Cornelius Keg Lid Kit is rated to IP68.
Before use, the batteries must be installed in the battery holder. The battery holder must then be correctly installed in the RAPT Laser Level Sensor.
Carefully pull out the battery housing. Install 3 x AAA Batteries, ensuring correct polarity. The Negative terminal is indicated by springs in the battery housing as shown
Once the batteries have been installed in the battery housing, replace the housing in the Board Assembly. Note: The battery housing is directional. Follow arrows as indicated on housing. Line up the battery housing with the board housing as shown
Carefully replace the Board Housing into the RAPT Laser Level Sensor housing. Screw the top housing back onto the RAPT Laser Level Sensor housing, ensuring that it is snug as pictured.
Once the battery housing is installed the RAPT Laser Level Sensor will automatically enter Bluetooth Pairing mode for approximately 5 minutes, allowing it to be registered to the RAPT Brew App. Bluetooth Pairing Mode is indicated by the LED blinking Blue
If the RAPT Laser Level Sensor does not enter Bluetooth Pairing mode then this can be entered manually - refer

The RAPT Laser Level Sensor gives real time, accurate and up to date data on exactly how much liquid is left in your kegs.
It can be fitted to any keg with a standard Cornelius style lid.
The RAPT Laser Level Sensor can also be adapted to fit any fermenter with a lid mounted 1.5" tri clover port, using the optional KL45063 adaptor
Taking measurements every few minutes this level sensor picks up on the liquid level in the keg and sends this information out via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). The 3 x AAA batteries will enable you to use this device continuously for more than 2 years. Alternatively if you are happy to reduce the measuring frequency to hours rather than minutes then you will be able to get the device to last for years between battery changes or re-charging.




The integrated laser shoots down a laser array to plot the internals of your tank so it can determine the liquid level quickly and accurately. This means you get real time data on the level in each tank.
We have several common vessel types like corny kegs or common fermenter types that are already pre-configured to work with this device right out of the box. With that said you can also use this device and map your own tank shape. The mapping process is quite simply and you are only required to do it once to map a new vessel shape. The mapping of the tank allows you to work out at what distance from the sensor is what volume inside the tank
As this device constantly monitors the level in each keg/tank it can also notify you of a change at any time. Get notified if someone is drinking your precious IPA when they are not supposed to be for example. Alternatively use the notifications for leak detection. Most importantly, notify yourself when you are at the end of the keg so you know when to brew next!

KL49344 RAPT Laser Level Sensor | Registration
The RAPT Laser Level Sensor is part of the RAPT ecosystem.
This is the easiest and best way to connect to the RAPT Laser Level Sensor to see instant telemetry updates - it's a real time update of the level of your kegs!
You will need to download and install the RAPT Brew App for Android or IOS
Once the RAPT Brew App has been installed, follow the on screen prompts to create an account (if required).
Ensure the RAPT Laser Level Sensor is turned on and in Bluetooth Pairing mode.
The RAPT Laser Level Sensor will automatically enter Bluetooth Pairing mode for approximately five minutes once the batteries are installed for the first time. If the device does not enter Bluetooth Pairing mode then this can be entered manually by holding the Bluetooth button for a few seconds until the LED blinks blue.
To connect to the RAPT Laser Level Sensor, in the RAPT Brew App navigate to Add Device and select RAPT Laser Level Sensor
Select the RAPT Laser Level Sensor and select Connect.
This will check the device and download any firmware updates if required. Once this is finished (it only takes a few seconds and is automatic) you will be prompted to register your RAPT Laser Level Sensor to your RAPT Brew app. Enter a custom name for your RAPT Laser level Sensor if desired (this can also be changed once the device is registered) then select Register
The RAPT Brew app will then apply any required updates to the RAPT Laser Level Sensor and register the device to your account. Once completed, you will be prompted to go to the device.
In the Device screen there are several options. The last known reading will be displayed, along with a visual representation of current volume.
Select the Bookmark symbol to quickly add the RAPT Laser Level Sensor to the RAPT Brew App Homescreen. Select the Edit symbol to edit the device - change the device name, input the current beer (or other liquid in the the keg). You will also need to select the keg volume - 19L is the default. Other standard sizes can be selected or a custom vessel can be entered. Select Save Changes when done.
Select the Connect To Chip button when within Bluetooth range of the RAPT Laser Level Sensor to get an instant realtime update of the keg volume.
The RAPT Laser Level Sensor will automatically update every time the Device page is opened in the RAPT Brew App, so you are always presented with an up-to-date reading (when in range of the RAPT Laser Level Sensor)
KL49344 RAPT Laser Level Sensor | Laser Array Guide
When using the RAPT Lasrer Level Sensor, to get the most reliable reading from the surface of the liquid/solid it’s best that the entire laser array falls onto the surface of the product being measured (rather than the wall of the vessel).
The image below shows how the laser array fires out from the base of the unit.
For unusually shaped vessels or vessels that are not a standard cylinder, such as conical tanks, the laser will start to give less accurate readings as the the majority of the laser falls onto the walls of the conical tank rather than onto the liquid itself. This will generally happen as the liquid level is quite low in the vessel. For example, in the BrewBuilt 144L conical fermenter the sensor will give poor accuracy in the last 5L of tank volume and may be undetectable.











KL49344 RAPT Laser Level Sensor | Operation
The RAPT Laser Level Sensor is a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) device. It has been designed to maximise battery life.
In order to maximise both battery life and functionality, the RAPT Laser Level Sensor has several modes of operation.
These can be viewed and changed in the RAPT Brew app.
The modes are accessed through the Setup option of the RAPT Laser Level Sensor device screen in the RAPT Brew app.
The RAPT Laser Level Sensor can pair with the RAPT Brew App. It is also designed (and ideally used) to be paired with the RAPT Kegerator Screen Board
In the RAPT Brew App Laser Level Sensor Device screen, you will see the last known value and a visual representation of the level
You can select to view Charts in order to see a visual representation of the keg level over time
The Setup button allows you to choose the Mode for the RAPT Laser Level Sensor
The RAPT Laser Level Sensor has 4 modes of operation. The selected mode can have a significant effect on battery life. To see the Mode Indicators, press the Power button on the RAPT Laser Level Sensor once. The current mode is also displayed in the Setup option of the RAPT Laser Level Sensor Device screen in the RAPT Brew App.
This is the default mode. In Smart Mode, the RAPT Laser Level Sensor will broadcast a Bluetooth signal frequently enough for the RAPT Brew App to detect it. If you will be using the RAPT Laser Level Sensor in conjunction with the RAPT Brew App instead of bonded to the RAPT Kegerator Screen Board or another RAPT Bluetooth Device, then Smart Mode should be selected
In Ultra Low Energy Mode, the RAPT Kegerator Screen Board will not broadcast a Bluetooth signal with enough frequency to be picked up by your phone. It must be bonded to the RAPT Kegerator Screen Board or another RAPT Bluetooth Device before Ultra Low Energy Mode is selected.
Ultra Low Energy Mode will dramatically increase battery life.
Important Note: The only way to exit Ultra Low Energy Mode is by physically selecting a different mode on the RAPT Laser Level Sensor
Session Mode cannot be manually selected. Session Mode will be entered automatically if the RAPT Kegerator Screen Board or another RAPT Bluetooth Device, detects a volume change in line with a frequent decrease in volume of the keg. Session Mode will end automatically once the volume of the keg is detected to drop less frequently.
Live Stream mode can be manually toggled using the Live Stream button in the RAPT Brew App (Pro subscription only)
Live Stream mode will continuously broadcast telemetry until toggled off or if the RAPT Laser Level Sensor. This can be useful for filling kegs or other activities which require real time telemetry.
The LED on the top of the RAPT Laser Level Sensor indicate the operational status of the device. The LED is not illuminated in normal use unless a button is pushed or the RAPT Laser Level Sensor sends telemetry or receives data (such as a firmware update).
To see the Mode Indicators, press the Power button once
Turn RAPT Laser Level Sensor on or off: hold the Power button until three fast red or green LED flashes are displayed. Green indicates the device is booting up. Red indicates the device is powering off
Enter Bluetooth Pairing mode: When the RAPT Laser Level Sensor is powered on, hold the Power button until the LED blinks blue
Display current Mode: Press the Power button once (while the device is on)
Take Reading and send Telemetry: Press the Bluetooth button once. NOTE: Telemetry will not be received unless the device is Registered
Factory Reset: Click and hold Power button then click and hold Bluetooth button. Hold both buttons until the LED blinks red several times
