If Glycol Chiller has been moved/delivered do not turn it on unless it has been standing upright for at least 24 hours. Failure to do this will void warranty and may damage the unit. Leave the Glycol Chiller upright for at least 24 hours before plugging in mains power after receiving and unboxing
Ensure there is at least 100mm of clearance on each side of the Glycol Chiller (excluding front) to allow adequate airflow. Failure to allow adequate ventilation will reduce performance, increase power consumption and void warranty
This Glycol Chiller is not intended for cooling wort from boiling or temperatures above 50°C. Using the chiller to cool liquids above 50°C can overload the compressor and will void warranty
Do not run the pumps dry or allow the reservoir to ice over. Ensure the pumps are always submerged when in operation. Running the pumps dry or increased resistance due to ice formation can damage the pumps.
Whenever the glycol chiller is operating and cooling the reservoir the pumps should be operating to keep the liquid in the reservoir agitated and avoid ice formation
Replace propylene glycol solution every 12 months to avoid potential damage to pumps, lines or reservoir
Let the glycol chiller sit for at least 24 hours after delivery or after sitting on its side before turning the unit on
Ensure there is adequate ventilation (at least 100mm on each side of the glycol chiller, excluding the front)
Check for any signs of damage which may have occurred during shipping
Before assembly, fill the glycol reservoir with at least 5L of water. Once filled, inspect the unit for leaks. If any leaks are located check that the drain port (located under the unit at the front) is secure.

Install 2 x male JoinTech fittings in the return sockets (marked with a red dot) using the supplied washers and nut
Locate the two red Return Lines. These are pre-fitted with a barb with 1/2" thread. Thread these onto the male thread of the JoinTech as shown
The nuts can be tightened by hand or with a wrench. As they are plastic fittings be careful to not overtighten
The RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller is now assembled and ready to connect to a controller and fermenter
Thread one of the supplied 1/2" thread barb onto each JoinTech once installed, as shown
Push one end of each of the blue Dual Outlet tubing over the barbs and secure each end of the blue Outlet tubing with one of the supplied hose clamps
The nuts can be tightened by hand or with a wrench. As they are plastic fittings be careful to not overtighten
Identify the inlet and the outlet of the supplied submersible pump
Connect the blue Outlet line to the outlet barb of the pump. Secure the connection with the included hose clamp as shown
On the left hand side of the RAPT Glycol Bluetooth Chiller is a cutout to allow for neat cable routing for the power lead of the submersible pump
Lift the lid of the chiller. This exposes two screws that secure the top in place
Remove each screw with a Phillips head screwdriver
Lift the top lid carefully to allow the submersible pump lead to be routed to the left hand side of the RAPT Glycol Bluetooth Chiller as shown
















KL50555 RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller | Flooded Font Setup
The RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller is ideal for a flooded font setup.
Unlike other Glycol Chillers, the small form factor and simple controls make this ideal for easily connecting to a flooded font.
To connect your flooded font, you will need tubing with an internal diameter of ~12mm.
Insulated tubing such as Red or Blue Glycol Insulation Hose - 2m Roll x 12mm ID x 16mm OD is preferred for a glycol setup as it is important to minimise thermal losses in the system.
To connect the tubing to the inlet and outlet of the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller you will need KL41102 JoinTech Female Connector with Auto Shut Off x 13mm Barb.
Connection to the flooded font depends on the font setup. Many flooded fonts will have 10mm barbs so you may need to use a short piece of silicone tubing and a joiner to connect the tubing.
Once the flooded font is connected of the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller. if using glycol. Do not set this to a temperature lower than recommended according to . If you are only using water in the reservoir and not glycol then do not set the temperature of the reservoir to below 2°C
It is important to not set a reservoir temperature that is too low as this can cause the beer in the lines to freeze.
Operation is quite simple. As the submersible pump is powered externally it is easy to have it running continuously if desired. It is generally better to operate the pump an hour or so before the font is in operation to ensure it is cold. This can be done manually or automatically using a smart plug (recommended)
Setting the reservoir temperature to -2°C is appropriate for most setups, but this will vary depending on many factors such as ambient temperatures, length of line and insulation, ABV of the beer etc

KL50555 RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller | Setup & Operation
The RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller can be operated with either just water in the reservoir or both water and glycol to reduce the freezing point of water.
For fermentation control, a glycol mix is greatly preferred as the cooling power of the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller will be much higher than if used with water alone. This is because the glycol lowers the freezing point so the reservoir can be set to -5°C or lower (depending on ambient, the water/glycol mix and other factors)
IMPORTANT: If you are only using water in the reservoir and not glycol then do not set the temperature of the reservoir below 2°C
Fill the reservoir to the indicated level with water or a water/glycol mix. The RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller holds approximately 5.75L when filled to capacity
if the reservoir is filled with water set the reservoir temperature controller to 2°C. If using glycol solution the reservoir temperature can be set below 2°C according to the table below.
Ensure the cooling coils are submerged. The amount of glycol required to be added to the reservoir depends on the desired set temperature of the reservoir which is dependent on a number of factors including how many fermenters are being cooled, the ambient temperature the fermenters are in and heat ingress etc. Use the table below to determine what percentage of glycol you require.
Once the system is operational, top up the reservoir as required to account for the coolant used in the system (lines, cooling jacket etc)
Underneath the reservoir near the front of the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller is a drain port./ This is sealed with a bung.
To drain the reservoir, position a suitable vessel underneath the drain port and carefully remove the bung.
Do not attempt to empty the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller by inverting it. This can cause oil to migrate from the compressor or liquid ingress into electronic components. This will void warranty and potentially damage the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller.
The reservoir temperature can be controlled directly (using the touch screen on the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller. It can also be controlled remotely by Bluetooth through the RAPT app.

Once the Set Point Temperature has been set, operation is automatic. If the measured temperature of the reservoir is above the Set Point Temperature, the compressor will start and the reservoir will cool until the Set Point Temperature is reached.

To connect and control the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller by Bluetooth, you will need to download and install the RAPT Brew App for Android or IOS
Once the RAPT Brew App has been installed, follow the on screen prompts to create an account (if required).
To connect to the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller, in the RAPT Brew App navigate to Add Device and select Bluetooth Glycol Chiller
Ensure the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller is turned on. Wait until the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller appears in the Device Registration screen (The device name is in the form RAPT_GCXXX)
Select the correct RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller and select Connect. Input the desired Device Name and select Register
Once connected and registered, the Rapt Bluetooth Glycol Chiller can be controlled directly through the RAPT Brew App provided it is within Bluetooth range. Swipe up from the Device screen to bring up the controls. Select the desired temperature and remember to select Apply to save the new temerpature setting

To convert the units from Celsius to Fahrenheit (if desired) press the Button twice. The current Unit selection will flash. Select Up or Down buttons to change from one unit to the next. Once selected, wait 5 seconds for the display to stop flashing. The new unit will be saved.
You can measure the glycol percentage using a calibrated refractometer and comparing to the specific gravity at 21°C in the above table.
We would advise running a 20% glycol solution. However, if you do not have a jacketed fermenter or have the fermenter in a very warm environment you can run it at a higher glycol concentration. The pumps are not designed to be run with a glycol concentration higher than 30% hence it is not advised to exceed this glycol concentration. Doing so may damage the pumps.
Once the desired Set Point Temperature is displayed, wait 5 seconds. The display will stop flashing and the new Set Point will be saved

KL50555 RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller | Fermenter Setup
The RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller is slightly different to many glycol chillers on the market. It is designed as a compact and powerful glycol chiller. It has built-in reservoir temperature control. However, the included pump is designed to be controlled separately by either an external Temperature Controller (such as a RAPT Temperature Controller) or ideally in conjunction with a RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Controller.
It can also be used manually using only the built in reservoir temperature control
The RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller comes as standard with Male JoinTech fittings. These are ideal for glycol setups as they are a dry break when disconnected.
To connect tubing to the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller you will need KL41102 JoinTech Female Connector with Auto Shut Off x 13mm Barb and suitable tubing.
Insulated tubing such as Red or Blue Glycol Insulation Hose - 2m Roll x 12mm ID x 16mm OD is preferred for a glycol setup as it is important to minimise thermal losses in the system.
IMPORTANT: Prior to connecting the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller to the fermenter ensure that the temperature of the liquid in the fermenter is below 50°C. The RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chilleris not designed to cool from boiling to 50°C and instead normal tap water should be recirculated through the cooling coils first to drop the temperature of the liquid
IMPORTANT: As the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller has a relatively small reservoir, care must be taken when setting up the system for the first time. Once the fermenter has been connected, operate the pump to fill the system with coolant. This will cause the reservoir level to drop. Ensure the reservoir is topped up with the required glycol/water ratio before turning the pump back on.
This is the preferred solution for temperature control with a RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller.
For best performance, insulate the hosing between the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller(if not using pre-insulated tubing as above) and the fermenter and try to minimise the distance between the Glycol Chiller and fermenter(s)
Use insulated tubing terminated with KL41102 . Connect this to the Outlet side of the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller (Marked with a blue dot). Connect the other end of the tubing to the male JoinTech fitting on the RAPT Glycol Controller. Run another length of insulated tubing terminated with KL41102 from the RAPT Glycol Controller to the inlet of the fermenter jacket or coil.
Use insulated tubing terminated with KL41102 . Connect this to the Return side of the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller (Marked with a red dot). Connect the other end of the tubing to the outlet of the fermenter jacket or coil.

If you are only using water in the reservoir and not glycol then do not set the temperature of the reservoir to below 2°C NOTE: Due to the inevitable thermal inefficiencies and losses in any glycol system, it is likely that the reservoir temperature will need to be set to a lower temperature than the desired temperature. A setting approx 2°C lower than the desired fermentation generally works well. In addition, when no external temperature controller is used, the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller may not easily achieve cold crash temperatures or it may take a very long time to chill.

KL50555 RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller | Maintenance & Troubleshooting
If the glycol solution has been stored for an extended period of time then it is suggested to replace the solution, despite glycol having antimicrobial properties.
To replace the glycol empty the reservoir using the drainage port and then refill with the required concentration of glycol using a refractometer to confirm the concentration.
NOTE: It is recommended to drain and replace the gylcol solution every 12 months to avoid freezing issues, as glycol can break down and lose effectiveness over time
Clean out dust from the radiator periodically to maintain optimum efficiency
The cooling power of the Glycol Chiller is independent of the cooling power of the system - IE the system when connected to fermenter(s). For best results it is important to minimise thermal loss by insulating all lines and fermenters, running as short a line as possible, and ensuring inlets and outlets of cooling coils or jackets are correctly connected.
If the Glycol Chiller is not cooling as expected, or if it is not cooling to the current set point, this can indicate that the thermal losses in the system are too great for the Glycol Chiller to overcome.
To determine if this is an issue with the unit or if it is an issue with the setup it is important to test the cooling Power of the Glycol Chiller independently.
To do this, the Gylcol Chiller must be isolated from the fermenters and tubing connecting to the fermenters. We want to only test the cooling power of the reservoir. AS the included JoinTech fittings are a dry break this can be done by removing any connected coolant lines from the RAPT Bluetooth Glycol Chiller
When disconnected, fill the reservoir with fresh gylcol solution or with water. NOTE: If using water do not set the reservoir temperature below 2° as this may cause freezing issues.
Make a note of the starting temperature - this will be the ambient temperature or thereabouts. Make a note of the time this reading is taken.
Set the reservoir to 0°C (if using glycol) or 2°C if using water.
Leave the Glycol Chiller to run, checking every 10 minutes to observe and note the temperature of the reservoir.
When the set point temperature has been reached, make a note of the total time taken to reach this temperature.
If the Glycol Chiller takes a long time to reach the set point temperature - in excess of 4 hours* then there may be an issue with the Glycol Chiller preventing it from cooling effectively - see Reservoir not reaching Set Point Temperature Troubleshootiing above.
*NOTE: This number is a guide only and external factors will play a part in performance.
If the set point temperature is reached in a reasonable timeframe then it is likely that any cooling issues are caused by thermal loss in the system. To combat this, reduce the line length, check that the inlet and outlet are the right way round and insulate the fermenter(s).
It is recommended to set the reservoir temperature to around -5°C when using glycol solution when crash cooling (for example).

Pump not working
Set Point Temperature not correct
The pump will cycle on or off as called by the cooling relay of the front controller. If the ambient temperature is higher than the set point, the pump will activate. Check that the set point temperature is lower than the measured temperature
Temperature probe in wrong location
For the most accurate results use a thermowell in the fermenter to insert the temperature probe
Faulty or blocked pumps
The pumps may be blocked due to contaminaints or ice build up in the reservoir. Empty, clean and flush the reservoir then test again
