KB51193 PolyPhoenix Air Still Pro | Operation

The PolyPhoenix Air Still Pro can be controlled directly using the on board controller or remotely using the RAPT Brew App. Remote control requires a RAPT account and the RAPT Brew App, available for IOS and Android. For setup information refer to Registration

Functionality is duplicated between the App and the On Board Controller. Heating can only be activated on the on board controller.

On Board Controller

Legend

Up - Increase highlighted variable, navigation up

Down - Decrease highlighted variable, navigation down

Cycle/Back - navigation between On Screen options. Exit without saving

Select - Select the current option. Enter a Selection. Confirm a choice

Display

The display shows the following information

Idle/Running for XhoursXX minutes - this indicates if heating is on, and how long the heating has been running

Current Temperature - this is the current temperature of the Still Head

End - this is the current end temperature of the Still Head

Power - this is the boiler power (if heating is on)

Setup AirStill - this is only available before the PolyPhoenix Air Still Pro has been registered to the RAPT Brew App. Select this to begin the registration process

Start Heating or End Heating turns power to the connected boiler On or Off. To shut down the PolyPhoenix Air Still Pro manually, use Select and the Up and Down buttons to navigate to Stop Heating. Use Select to stop the heating process

Distilling Mode - select this to choose Distillation Mode. There are three options.

  1. Pot Mode - this sets an End Temperature of 98°C. Ensure SPP (Spiral Prismatic Packing) is removed for Pot Still Mode

  2. Reflux Mode - this sets an End Temperature of 82°C. Ensure SPP (Spiral Prismatic Packing) is installed for Reflux Still Mode

  3. Custom Mode - this allows the user to enter the desired End Temperature

End Temperature is a set point at which power to the connected boiler will be turned off. This functions to stop the distillation run. The temperature at which the run finishes largely determines the lowest ABV collected.

Typical End Temperature settings are 82°C for a Reflux Still run and 96°C for a Pot Still run

NOTE: Pot Still or Reflux Still modes can be selected with one button in the RAPT Brew App (if the PolyPhoenix Air Still Pro has been registered and connected to WiFI)

Settings

The following options are available in the Settings Menu.

To change any of the advanced settings enter the Menu by pressing Select . Once in the menu navigate to Settings and press Select

Up or Down buttons to adjust the set value for the setting. To save your setting hit Select . To return to the menu without saving choose Cycle/Back

Some options are on/off toggles that can be activated or deactivated from the Settings Menu directly.

Diagnostics

The Diagnostics menu contains information about the PolyPhoenix Air Still Pro. This includes such information as current firmware version, Wi-Fi network and signal strength, MAC address and IP address of the device.

Ethanol Alarm

The Ethanol Alarm should be left at the default settings.

The Ethanol Alarm will sound if the ethanol alarm threshold is reached (default 1000ppm)

If the Ethanol Sensor shutdown threshold is reached, the PolyPhoenix Air Still Pro will shut down automatically (default 2000ppm)
